Topics/questions my work is addressing:

Does the ‘nude-selfie’ allow females to take over the male role, becoming the man behind the picture who directs and portrays the female as their subject. This issue has been addressed and theorised by many artists such as feminist Laura Mulvey (focusing on the male-gaze in film) and director David Lynch (on voyeurism).

In taking nude-selfies of oneself, females are controlling the way their on bodies are being portrayed, and by posting them in social media sites, they are allowing it to be gazed at.

Has technology helped females gain more power in a male-based industry, or are females just making it easier or the male to gaze.

I want to portray these issues/questions and attempt to make the viewers feel like voyeurs or ‘peeping tom’s’ as displayed in Blue Velvet.
